MAIDUGURI/ADAMAWA — In a major victory for national security, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have dealt a crushing blow to the infrastructure of terror in the Northeast. Following high-level intelligence gathering, the military has successfully dismantled a sophisticated suicide bombing cell and choked off a critical fuel supply line intended for insurgent operations.
The Takedown: Suicide Bombing Network Exposed
The Nigerian Army confirmed on Monday that eight suspects have been taken into custody. Among them are two principal suspects identified as the “key facilitators” of a deadly suicide bombing network.
- The Evidence: A raid on the suspects’ residence yielded a treasure trove of evidence, including cash, mobile phones, ATM cards, and jewelry. These items are currently undergoing forensic analysis to map out the network’s financial and communication trails.
- The “Smoking Gun”: During identification, a previously detained suspect positively identified the two principal targets as the suppliers of materials used in preparing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
- Interrogation: All eight individuals are currently undergoing rigorous interrogation to extract further intelligence before being transferred for prosecution.
Logistics Intercepted: 1,125 Liters of Smuggled Fuel
In a separate but equally vital operation on January 4, 2026, OPHK troops disrupted a major logistics chain in Mayo Nguli, Adamawa State.
Troops intercepted a massive consignment of 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), totaling approximately 1,125 liters. The fuel, suspected to be intended for terrorist mobility and machinery, was abandoned by smugglers who fled into the bush upon sighting the military.
The Impact: Blunting the Edge of Terror
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for OPHK, emphasized that these back-to-back successes are a testament to the military’s proactive stance. By arresting the facilitators who build the bombs and seizing the fuel that powers their movement, the Nigerian Army is effectively “blindfolding and grounding” the enemy.
