Controversial “Street-hop” artist Portable has sparked a fresh wave of industry drama after accusing Nigeria’s biggest music exports—Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, and Burna Boy—of gatekeeping the music industry and stifling the growth of new talent.
Allegations of Industry Monopoly
In a viral video broadcast shared on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the Zazu crooner lamented that the quartet has dominated the top of the charts for over a decade. He claimed their continued “monopoly” makes it nearly impossible for younger superstars to emerge.
“Wizkid, Olamide, Davido, and Burna Boy have been at the top for over 10 years and are blocking the way for other artistes to come up,” Portable declared in the video.
The “Fake Lifestyle” and Jewelry Claims
Beyond professional obstruction, Portable also took aim at the flashy lifestyles of the Afrobeats titans. He accused the stars of inflating the prices of their luxury assets to create a false sense of competition.
- Jewelry Lies: Portable alleged that the stars often lie about the cost of their jewelry, claiming they pay billions of Naira for items that were likely gifted or given for free.
- Mental Pressure: He urged his senior colleagues to stop putting up-and-coming musicians under “unnecessary pressure” by constantly flaunting wealth that may not be as it seems.
A Vow to Keep “Calling Out” Icons
This isn’t Portable’s first brush with industry giants, but his tone has grown increasingly defiant. The singer vowed to continue his social media “call-outs” until he sees a change in how the industry operates and how the veteran artists carry themselves.
This controversy comes just days after Portable’s release from a brief police detention, proving that the “Zeh Nation” boss is wasted no time in returning to the spotlight.
