Former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas has delivered a bold prediction ahead of Sunday’s high-stakes Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester United. While the Gunners currently sit comfortably at the top of the table, Jenas believes Mikel Arteta’s side could be in for a rude awakening at the Emirates.
Arsenal’s Momentum vs. United’s Revival
Arsenal enters the match in formidable form, boasting a 12-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. However, Manchester United has found a fresh lease on life under interim manager Michael Carrick.
United’s confidence is sky-high following a masterclass performance last weekend, where they dismantled Manchester City 2-0 thanks to goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu. According to Jenas, that victory provided a “perfect blueprint” for how to hurt the league leaders.
The “Carrick Effect” and Tactical Partnerships
Speaking on the Wildcards Podcast, Jenas highlighted the sudden organizational shift at Old Trafford:
“Watching that game against Man City, the first thing I noticed was how well-drilled they were. Their partnerships are really coming together. Up top, Mbeumo and Fernandes were working together a lot… Defensively, Martinez and Maguire seem to be holding up well.”
Jenas noted that the midfield duo of Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo has made United “really hard to beat,” providing a solid base for their new, lethal counter-attacking style.

Despite Arsenal’s dominance, Jenas remains skeptical of their ability to break down a low block. He pointed out that while Arsenal excels at set-pieces—potentially utilizing Gabriel Jesus—they may struggle if they don’t respect United’s speed on the break.
“United are playing a more counter-attacking style now,” Jenas explained. “If Arsenal don’t handle those transitions properly, players like Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, or Mbeumo are going to cause serious trouble.”
