BLACKOUT: AEDC Blames Technical Fault for Power Outage in Major Abuja Estates

Residents of several communities and high-brow estates in Abuja are currently facing a blackout following a major technical breakdown. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) officially confirmed the development in a public notice released on Monday.

According to the DisCo, the disruption is due to a technical fault on the specific feeder line serving several residential hubs and commercial zones.

The Affected Areas

The outage has hit a significant portion of the city, including:

  • Estates: Flower Gate, Super Cell, Efab, Saraha Homes (all phases), IPENT (3, 4, & 5), Basic Estate, Nzube, Copacabana, Vision Court, Peace Court, Sunshine Homes, Fafu Homes, Pent Ville, and FRSC Estate.
  • Villages & Hubs: Apo Mechanic Village, Wumba, Waru, Kabusa, Dogogada, Pigbakasa, and Pigbasama.
  • Institutions: Living Faith Church and surrounding areas.

Restoration Efforts Underway

In their official statement, the AEDC apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that their engineers are on the ground.

“We regret to inform you that the current power outage is due to a technical fault affecting the feeder serving your area. Our technical team is working tirelessly to restore power supply as quickly as possible,” the statement read.

While no specific time for restoration was given, the company maintained that work is ongoing to resolve the issue “as quickly as possible.”
