Indomie Sets the Record Straight: “No Vegetable Flavour in Nigeria”
As families across Nigeria prepare for holiday festivities, a wave of confusion followed a NAFDAC public alert (No. 041/2025) regarding a recall of “Indomie Vegetable Flavour” in France. Today, the manufacturers of Indomie in Nigeria, Dufil Prima Foods, have officially cleared the air, making one thing very clear: The affected product is not, and has never been, part of the Nigerian market.
1. The “Foreign Product” Factor
The core of the confusion lies in a variant called “Vegetable Flavour.” Dufil Prima Foods clarified that this specific variant is neither manufactured, distributed, nor sold by the company in Nigeria.
- The Origin: The alert was triggered by a recall in France (via Rappel Conso) due to undeclared allergens like milk and eggs.
- The Precaution: NAFDAC issued the alert as a routine safeguard to prevent the illegal entry of this foreign batch through travel or online shopping.
2. Strict Local Compliance
Dufil reminded consumers that importing noodles into Nigeria is banned by law. Every pack of Indomie found on Nigerian shelves is produced locally under the most stringent quality controls.
“All Indomie noodles produced by Dufil Prima Foods in Nigeria are safe for consumption, produced under strict quality control processes, and in full compliance with NAFDAC regulations,” the company stated.
3. Beware of “Copycat” Branding
The company also raised a red flag regarding images circulating on social media. Many of the posts causing panic show packaging that does not match Indomie Nigeria’s approved branding, labels, or sizes. Consumers are urged to be wary of any noodle product that looks unfamiliar or lacks the official NAFDAC registration number.
The Verdict: Safe to Enjoy
Both NAFDAC and Dufil have confirmed that the “Vegetable Flavour” recall does not affect the locally produced range—including favorites like Chicken, Onion, and Hungryman sizes. As 2025 comes to a close, the company remains committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s favorite noodle brand remains a staple of safety and quality.
